The Association meets once a month during the autumn and winter at the Millenium Hall in Cellan (click here for directions). The meetings begin in September and are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 8:15 p.m. and conclude with our Annual General Meeting in March.
We have a programme of talks and presentations for the meetings – topics covered by speakers in recent seasons included disease recognition, methods of swarm control, queen rearing, making up nucleus hives, soap making, use of pollen in forensics and research into the foraging preferences of bees. And, of course, every meeting is an opportunity to have a chat over tea and biscuits about bees, beekeepers and how there are a myriad of different answers to every beekeeping question!
From April onwards our Apiary Manager and his team attend the Association apiary every Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. and these sessions are open to all members to attend. Assistance with the various tasks involved in keeping the apiary running smoothly is always welcomed!
Our December meeting consists of our annual Christmas dinner and raffle. A chance for us all to relax over a glass of wine and a festive meal and toast the end of what we always hope will be another successful beekeeping year.
