A vast amount of information is available at the National Bee Unit (NBU) website, including the latest news, disease occurrence in your area and many free to download educational leaflets covering many aspects of beekeeping.
All members of Lampeter & District Beekeepers' Association are encouraged to register on "BeeBase", which is part of the NBU. Beebase is the national register of beekeepers and being registered will ensure that if there is an outbreak of notifiable disease in your area you will receive email alerts along with other helpful information, such as "starvation alerts". Registration is free.
Details of the national inspectorate, including contact numbers and email address for your local seasonal bee inspector, are available under the contact pages on the NBU website. For beekeepers in the Ceredigion area, the local seasonal bee inspector is Mike Davies (our Training Officer). Mike will no doubt be visiting many of you on his routine inspections during the active season (April until October), but if you are unsure about your bees or suspect they may have disease then contact him:
